Okinawa is a special little island off the coast of Japan. It’s only about 18 miles long and 12 miles wide, making it easy to explore on foot.
Okinawa is a beautiful, diverse place with many fascinating temples, hot springs, and lovely lakes. It’s also home to some of the world’s most famous combat soldiers and warships like the U.S. Navy USS Missouri and Soviet-era ships like the PT-76 & 76A.
Many foreign tourists travel here on ferryboats from Osaka or Naha International Airport (called Naha Airport).
Get on a plane to Fukuoka
Fukuoka is the largest city in Fukuoka prefecture and is also known as The Pearl of Japan. This city is well-known for its seafood, so it is no surprise that it is one of the top tourist destinations in Japan.
To get to Okinawa from Osaka, you will first have to go through Fukuoka. A train service connects Fukuoka and the other cities and towns around Okinawa, so you can get to your destination in about an hour!
If you are looking to move to Okinawa, get on a plane to Fukuoka! It will take you about an hour and a half to travel between cities, and you will be able to see all the beautiful scenery of Japan on the way.
The best time to visit Okinawa is during spring or autumn, when there are plenty of flowers blooming.
Take the train to Kumamoto
If you are travelling by airplane to Okinawa, then you should take the flight from Osaka to Kumamoto and then transfer to the train. The journey takes about 24 hours.
The Kumamoto Shinkansen railway line is located just outside of Osaka, and connects to a number of cities in Japan. It is one of the fastest railway lines in Japan, allowing you to make quick trips between Osaka and your next destination quickly.
If you are travelling by train, there are two stations that should be taken into account: Kumamoto Shinkansen and Kumano Nishi-Kumamoto. Both offer good connections, but make sure that the stationmaster can tell you which line goes where.
Just like with airports in other countries, airport security in Okinawa is on the high end of things.
Find another person going to Okinawa
If you are going to Okinawa on a trip-ticket, you can get into the Fujikawa Fujinouchi High School (Fuji) Orientation and Training Course. This course is for new students at Fuji, who are looking to join the university or college system.
The course takes two days and nights, and consists of classroom lessons and practical training in various fields such as nursing, education, administration, marketing, finance, law enforcement, military training, and medical.
During the second day of the orientation course, new students attend a faculty orientation followed by practical training in their first academic subject: nursing. They then go to their first academic subject: nursing.
New students are given an assignment they must complete during their first day on campus and that is it! They attend lectures on what they should be doing in order to succeed at campus life.
Take the plane to Naha
When you get to Okinawa, head to Naha airport and take the plane to Okinawa!
This is the best way to get to Okinawa from Osaka because it is the only airport in Okinawa. If you want to go to a different city, ferry or bus services aren’t available.
If you are travelling with a car, make sure you have sufficient gas supply as the roads in Okinawa are less developed than those in mainland Japan. Also, check with your car insurance company if driving is safe enough for this event.
If you are travelling with a bike, make sure you have enough power before you go out so that you can cover some distance.
Take the bus to Miyazaki
If you are coming from Osaka, take the Seishun Bus from Shin-Osaka Station to Miyazaki City. It takes about an hour to drive from Osaka to Miyazaki and takes about an hour to drive from Miyazaki to Okinawa.
The Seishun Bus leaves Shin-Osaka Station at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 am and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. The trip takes about an hour and a half. The cost is ¥420 per person, which includes all taxes.
This bus also has a special route that goes straight to Okinawa without stopping in Miyazaki City. Take that route if you want more sights during your trip!
The Miyazaki City Bus leaves the terminal at 5 p.m., making it the best time to catch this bus for getting into Okinawa (or leaving!) as soon as possible.
Find another person going to Okinawa
If you are going to Okinawa on a trip with someone else, find a way to be separated from them. It will make it much easier for you to relax and enjoy your trip.
Many people who travel to Okinawa alone make use of the Kono-Shima Tour, which takes people on a boat tour around Okinawa’s largest island, Kono-Shima. During the 45-60 minute boat tour, you can enjoy beautiful scenery and seclusion as you go along with your own group of people.
If you are very privacy conscious, join the Rekishi Travel Group website (http://www.rekishitravelgroup.com/), which offers group tours that cater for individuals who want to be alone but don’t want to take the ferry or ferryboat that connects Kono-Shima with Ishigaki island. These groups offer exceptional privacy as well as an opportunity for meetups with other people.
If you are looking for something more local, try one of the many hiking trails or visit one of the numerous nature parks on Kono-Shima.
Take the plane to Ishigaki
If you are driving to Okinawa, take the highway to Ishigaki. It is about an hour and a few hundred dollars worth of driving money, but it is worth it.
Ishigaki is an interesting city to visit. It has a small harbor and is known for its fish market, where you can go and buy fresh fish from all over Japan.
The market is open until late into night, so be prepared for a late night trip! There are also some beautiful parks and scenic areas in Ishigaki that you can visit.
Take the boat to Hateruma Island
Take the ferry from Osaka to Hateruma Island. The ferry is a very cool and fun experience!
On board, you will be greeted with delicious food and drinks as well as informative presentations about Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands. You can also visit the beach or go for a swim!
The island is beautiful with many different ethnic groups living on it. You can even attend a wedding there!
After your trip, you can visit one of the three resorts that are on the island- Gills, Kinsei, or Kinkai. All of them have great staff and beautiful rooms.
