An arts festival is an event that showcases various forms of art, including music, dance, film, fine art, literature, poetry, and much more. While visual arts are typically the focus of these events, these days, they’re not limited to these. If you’re in the mood for a new experience, consider attending a festival to expand your horizons.
This year, RIOC will be hosting mural painting events for local children. These events are free and will include basic supplies, including acrylic or spray paint, as well as brushes. The artists will be given a 6-foot by 8-foot or 16-foot surface to work with. In order to be considered, artists must submit a sketch that showcases their mural design and includes a brief description of their concept and technical method. The sketches should be in proportion to the size of the mural. While submitting a sketch does not guarantee acceptance, it may result in the opportunity to paint a mural in the city.
The festival is free and family-friendly. The kids’ area encourages artistic expression, and artwork created by children can be donated to the festival gallery. Murals from previous years’ festivals also decorate the festival grounds. Parking is free behind the festival building. The Methodist Church also provides paid parking. Handicap parking is also available to accommodate visitors with mobility issues.
